Sedation dentistry is arguably the most powerful tool in a dentist’s dental treatment arsenal, but do you have the training?
Does your state allow it?
Will your dental insurance cover you?
There can be a lot of things standing in the way of offering dental sedation services.
The Wealthy Dentist conducted a survey asking dentists what the highest level of sedation they offer to their dental patients.
One sedation dentist responded, “I would lose over half my dental practice without dental sedation.”
Another dentist disagreed, “Although sedation seems like a nice thing to have available for your patients, the reality is that it is a real pain to provide! My favorite method of sedation is someone who is able to take just local anesthesia.”
According to the ADA, the use of sedation and anesthesia by appropriately trained dentists in the dental office continues to have a remarkable record of safety.
