VP Candidates Change Minds of 1 in 5 Dentists

In this survey, we asked dentists if the announcement of VP candidates had caused them to reconsider their votes.

Three out of four dentists have already made up their minds, and were not swayed by the VP choices. On the other hand, fully 18% said they expected the VP to change their vote.

“The VP choice did not change my outlook, but did renew my enthusiasm,” said one dentist.

Rural dentists were distinctly more likely to change their vote due to the VP candidates. Only half of rural dentists remain as certain in their vote as they were before.

Rural doctors are particularly enthusiastic about Sarah Palin. "I was ready to dump the Republicans and vote for the Constitution Party," said one rural dentist. "Palin totally brought us back!!"

“Unless they work in for the govt. or a school, any dentist who votes for Obama truly has a death wish.” (Texas orthodontist)
“Even though Obama may be a little harder on my pocketbook, Washington needs more of a shake-up than McCain. Either will be a vast improvement over Bush. There is hope….” (Texas dentist)
“Palin makes me more comfortable voting for McCain, although I NEVER could have voted for Obama.” (Tennessee dentist)
“Caribou Barbie only makes me more sure that I have to do what I can to help the Obama ticket win.” (Florida dentist)
"I am not a Democrat and have never voted for one for President, but the Republicans under Bush have screwed up so badly they deserve to lose.” (Michigan dentist)
“Obama probably won in the VP choice, but McCain may get the best gain from his choice.” (Texas dental professional)
“My decision is based on issues. That said, I do not believe that Mrs. Palin is qualified to be President of the US, and that should be the benchmark of a VP candidate. John McCain did not put 'Country First' with his VP choice.” (California dentist)
“If there was a write in candidate, I would consider them…” (Florida dentist)

Dentists Say McCain Would Be Better for Dentistry

McCain More Dentist-Friendly Than Obama (Survey)

In this survey, we asked dentists which presidential candidate would be better for dentistry. Dentists trend Republican, and the outcome of this poll was no exception.

Two out of three dentists surveyed said John McCain would be a better president for dentists. One in six favored Obama, and the remaining one in six said there would be no difference between the two.

“Because of his sensational smile, Obama would give cosmetic dentistry a boost by being President,” said a Georgia dentist.

Here are some additional comments from dentists:

“Due to higher taxes by Obama, there will be less money to spend on dentistry.” (Louisiana dentist)
“God forbid Obama gets in… socialized healthcare, here we come!!” (Arizona dentist)
“Obama is a classic Robin Hood Democrat: Tax the people who work to create wealth, and redistribute it to the masses who don’t.” (Florida dentist)
“An Obama presidency would be better for the country, and therefore better for dentists.” (California orthodontist)
“The last thing I need is higher taxes.” (California periodontist)
“Truly, neither one will be good, since the Democrats in Congress will call the

Survey Shows Most Dentists Plan to Vote Republican

In this survey, we asked dentists who they planned to vote for in this November’s presidential election.

Two out of three dentists say they plan to vote for the Republican party.

Democrats Prefer Obama

Only one in three dentists reports that they will vote for the Democratic candidate.

The Role of Gender

Gender played a major role in a dentist’s political opinion. The average male dentist is this survey favored the Republican party, while the average female dentist leaned toward the Democrats.

Here’s a sampling of what dentists had to say on this year’s election:

Democrats look like Socialists

“Clear choice between the Democrats (aka Socialists) and McCain.” (Republican dentist)
“We need to pull away from the forces of socialism in our country. Let’s be smart and close our borders before we meld into a socialistic country and loose all control of what we are and what we stand for!” (Republican dentist)

Republicans have made a mess of things

“Look at the country eight years ago: budget surplus, friends around the world, gas and bread prices affordable. Do we want, or can we stand, four more years of this kind of management?” (Democrat dentist)
“The republicans are criminals who would like this country run as the Nazis would have.” (Democrat dentist)

Sometimes, all Republicans can do is pray

“Dear God, Have mercy on us!” (Republican dentist)
“God, please don’t let the Democrat win!” (Republican dentist)

Time for a change?

“The ‘change’ mantra sounds nice, but will cost you individually a whole lot more than common sense would. Common sense, that would be the REAL change.” (Republican periodontist)

The war on terror

“The Democrats are dissociated from reality. The only issue of import is the war against Islamic Fascism. If you watch their debates, it is a non-issue.” (Republican pediatric dentist)

Are elections always between the lesser of two evils?

“I’m not happy with ANY of the candidates for president. It seems to me the choice will be between worse and worst!” (Republican oral surgeon)
“It stinks. I’ll hold my nose and vote for McCain.” (Republican dentist)

Dentists Vote for Mitt Romney in Smile Election

Presidential Election: Candidates with the Best Teeth In this survey, we asked dentists which presidential candidate has the best teeth. And the winner was clear: Mitt Romney received just over 50% of the vote!

It’s worth noting that Romney also did well in our recent political survey of dentists. Though the two surveys asked very different questions, answers to both surveys were markedly similar.

Gender played a clear role in a dentist’s analysis of candidates’ smiles. Male dentist were overwhelmingly in favor of Mitt Romney (61%), but female dentists did not agree. Women dentist preferred Hillary Clinton’s smile (39%) and Barack Obama’s (26%) over Romney’ (22%).

Geographic location was also correlated dentists’ opinions. Rural dentists are almost twice as likely as urban dentists to choose Mitt Romney’s smile. On the other hand, urban dentists were more than twice as likely to prefer Hillary Clinton’s.

“Barack Obama has beautiful smile. He is just blessed with good genetics. His teeth appear to be aligned in an almost ideal Angles Class I occlusion. From a dental esthetic standpoint, the other presidential candidates don’t have a chance.” (Illinois dentist)
“I like Barack Obama’s teeth; they appear natural. Romney’s look nice, too. I’m guessing they are laminates or crowns.” (Tennessee dentist)
“Even Mitt Romney’s smile line fits his face. Plus, he doesn’t try to smile too big.” (Virginia dentist)
“Hillary Clinton has the best overall smile, well-proportioned with her facial features.” (Wisconsin dentist)
“I would have to say Barack Obama. Yes, it’s sad, but true: the worst possible choice for President has the best smile!” (Arkansas dentist)

Two Out of Three Dentists Prefer Republican Rule

In this survey, we asked dentists who they would like to see win the upcoming US presidential election. Two out of three dentists said they would rather see a Republican in the Oval Office than a Democrat.

Which Candidates Do Dentists Like?

Let me clarify that these poll numbers are not representative of the country at large. These numbers represent the opinions of dentists who chose to respond to our poll.
