Redheads Twice as Likely To Avoid Dentist

Dental fear: redheads more likely to fear the dentistIt's a quirky finding from a study recently published in the Journal of the ADA: People with red hair are more likely to suffer from dental phobia.

Redheads are less sensitive to anesthetics like Novocain. Without additional sedation, they face significantly more pain during their procedure – which is enough to make anyone dread the dentist.

People with naturally red hair are significantly more likely to experience dental anxiety. in fact, redheads are more than twice as likely to avoid the dentist as those with brown hair.

So the next time you have a natural redhead in your chair, try to remember that sedation dentistry can depend on a person's hair color!
