Dentists hate insurance: videoDentists have had enough of dental insurance companies. In this survey, fully 94% of dentist respondents said that they would like to see dentists organize against the insurance industry.

Low benefits and payouts are dentists’ largest frustration.

  • I have a different outlook. I try to educate the patient that it is their EMPLOYER that has chosen the benefits that they have. For example, Met Life has several plans to choose from. One pays for prophys 2 x’s per year any time of year, and one pays once every 6 months. One downgrades posterior composites, one does not.
    We are not in network for any plans, except Dental Premier (because we want to receive the check – not the patient). We have to educate our patients on the benefits.
    Yes, the insurance companies don’t pay on things because they feel it is unneccessary and they need more documentation etc, etc,….but education is important for our patients. We have to take the time to build the value for what we offer so the difference that the patient pays has value.
