Today’s Friday random video is by Carmichael Training Systems, whose coaches and athletes just happened to be riding mountain bikes up Rampart Range Road outside of Colorado Springs on Saturday, June 23 as part of a routine bike ride.
Carmichael Training Systems was founded by Olympian and 1999 US Olympic Committee Coach of the Year, Chris Carmichael, and delivers world-class personal coaching services to athletes of all abilities, across the complete spectrum of endurance sports in Colorado and other locations.
As the CTS coaches and athletes rode through the Colorado hills Saturday morning, there was no smoke or fire as they passed The Overlook.
But on the way back down, it became an entirely different story, when they spotted smoke below them to the south.
Colorado fire fighters were already on Rampart Range Road when the still images of the fire were taken by the coaches and athletes on the bike ride. According to their YouTube post, firefighters advised the group to get down off Rampart Range Road as fast as possible, which they quickly did, as evidenced by the video and their speedy drive away from the billowing smoke.
This Friday random video further reveals just how quick a fire can spread —
Dentists, have you ever been caught near a fire or been forced to evacuate because of one?
Our hearts go out to the many families who have lost their homes in this devastating fire.
