Is it possible to guarantee perfection in products 100% of the time? No, but dentists should be careful to whom they outsource (if they do) their product making. Too many companies, in all industries are questionable...

I've gone the opposite way on this. Giving my business to a local artisan who works out of her house. We're her only client. Closest thing to an in-house lab I've ever had.

Dear Lab Manager!

SZIVESEN (meaning: your welcome). I appreciate your reply in proper Hungarian writing and without any mistakes! You must be a good dude! I'm glad you liked my "piece" above and especially that you found it sensible, because it was all about triggering some senses inside anyone reading it. I however must apologize for targeting Dr. Du Molin with it, like he was the one ordering the work from China. I read back the whole thread a while ago and I realized that I was wrongfully accusing the host of this wonderful site. Dr. Du Molin was just referring to another dentist's case and I jumped at him like he was that Bastard. Sorry Jim! I got so mad about the issue that I just kept writing. I did mean everything I wrote though and my work still stands worldwide for all Dr. Cheap Charlies out there getting wealthy in this nasty manner. The point I am trying to make to our dentists is simply this: be clever, be fair, be loyal, charge for your services accordingly and you can still get wealthy. Oh, one more important thing: Your stomach won't hurt when you see your face in the mirror! As Steve Martin said in the movie, My Blue Heaven: "Some people would steal your money, but these people steal your heart"...

...and now, to all of you, my respected Technician Brothers and Sisters out there I must pass onto you this important message from our late mentor, Mr. Bob Marley: EMANCIPATE YOURSELVES FROM DENTAL SLAVERY! None but ourselves can free our minds. This is our Redempion Song! Keep up the Good Fight and may the Force be with you all!

Dear Dr. Du Molin,

I write to you from Budapest, Hungary.

I have been setting up and running successful dental labs on both the American and European continents. I know the industry inside out and more so the PLAYERS within. Unfortunately it is not a game, it involves people's lives, which include dentists, patients and technicians among many others. I don't expect you to know where Hungary is. Most Americans don't. We also have McDonald's and their burgers here taste just as dull as in the US or anywhere else in the world. I don't buy them also because I do not know what the heck they are made of. Are they unleaded? God knows! I consider them inferior products and they are also expensive compared to the utility I get from them: mainly bloating. So, I avoid them. I certainly do not invite my clients, friends or family members to these so called "restaurants" for lunch, not to mention dinner. How could I? We are in the same boat and we trust each other. We are interdependent. This one is a very important word: I.N.T.E.R.D.E.P.E.E.N.D.E.N.T!!! Shouldn't the case be the same for dentists, patients and dental technicians? Instead of McRoyals I go to one of the little local family owned restaurants, whose owners I personally know and have been trusting for many years. They hand pick their fresh ingredients each morning at the local market from the same merchants they have known and trusted for many years. Their lunch menu costs just a little more than Smiling Ronald's Kid's Menu that comes from a stranger school dropout with a "complimentary" inferior toy.
In your article about this lady and her lead issue you highlighted the following:"Please note that she is planning to sue her dentist, not the dental lab!" Let me remind you and all other "Wealthy Dentists" that YOU are responsible for the dental prostheses that you fit into the mouths of your patients(who otherwise keep your bank account healthy and for some strange reason happened to trust you). You are locked up so much in your self indulging little world of writing books about Core Strategies and Million Dollar Signs that you forget to see the signs for the core elements of The Hippocratic Oath. Let me give you a FREE SIGN. You have to treat inferior products like I treat the Big Macs. Avoid them! Do not allow your educated self to be associated with them. Don't share it with your patients, as you wouldn't with your family members either. Find a local lab preferably and treat them like kings. If you cannot find the quality you want nearby find a lab somewhere else in your own country. Treat them like they were people. Get to know them. Visit them occasionally (you are wealthy enough to do that). Tell them what you like about their services and what you don't. Find out what alloys they use or tell them which particular type you would want (Attention: it might be demanding for you)all your cases to be casted from. Send them a Christmas card. Don't be a Cheap Charley, like most of your wealthy colleagues! Send them also a new years greeting and tell them they were great this year and that you certainly count on them the next one coming. (Make sure the cards are current year, although we both know that the expired ones are far much cheaper :-) In other words, build a trusting and lasting relationship with a good lab. Your own lab! Be proud of those guys. Put them on your cheesebrochures and mention them in your publications but not in your book of lies. Do you think they would cast you boat parts for you to fit into your trusting patients' mouths? Do you get me Hot Shot?

Look in the mirror and ask yourself this: Why did my stomach start hurting when I red this Hungarian guy's comment on my blog?

So much could I help you Doc! ...wake up and change!

JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE I CAN HAVE MY BRIDGE TESTED FOR LEAD. I HAD IT FOR ABOUT 5 YRS OR SO, AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE EVER SINCE WITH ACID REFLUX, TONS OF STOMACH ISSUES, EVEN MOUTH ISSUES, HAD IT REMOVED ALONG WITH THE PERFECTLY GOOD TOOTH UNDER NEATH IT, JUST LAST WEEK. WHY, I DON'T KNOW, BUT MY DENTIST GAVE IT TO ME AND I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO HAVE IT TESTED FOR LEAD

This is an unfortunate story.

However, the writer has just returned from a visit to China. Contrary to expectations, there are some excellent dentists there who have excellent labs and use quality materials.

Beyond the potential of lead poisoning from Chinese labs, I would dearly hope American dentists would give their business to American dental labs, especially considering our economy and the destructive rate of outsourcing so many jobs overseas.

WE ALL KNOW that most or all Chinese products are inferior copies of whatever original product they're copying. Sometimes we can live with that inferior quality: Noone dies if a carpet sweeper stops working within a year or an allen wrench bends. But Chinese products have no place on our table or in our mouthes. There should be a law that the end consumer must be made aware of Chinese components in any product where they hide and lay in wait to cause harm.
