Clinical Proof That Smoking Marijuana Damages Gums

It’s old news that cigarette are bad for your oral health — smoking tobacco stains teeth, wreaks havoc on gums, and can cause myriad other health problems. But what of nicotine’s troublesome cousin, marijuana?

A recent study has revealed that heavy marijuana smokers face up to three times the risk of developing gum disease as those who have never smoked.

Though it had long been suspected that smoking pot can be just as detrimental to oral health as smoking cigarettes, this study was the first to prove the gum disease connection.
