A short story on marketing that happened to me about 20 yrs ago. I was on the dental society board and an officer. This was shortly after marketing became legal. I ran a weekly dental information column in the local daily paper. About 3 months after starting the column, the annual election of officers took place. When my name was brought up for reelection, one of the old timers jumped up and said "We can't have some one like this representing us! I ask for another nomination." Someone else jumped up immediately with "I nominate so and so." "Will so and so accept the nominatin?" "Yes, I accept." Of course I was summarily kicked off the board and to this day I have not been asked to serve again. Things have certainly changed with all the advertizing that goes on today.
