Half of Dentists Refer Most Wisdom Tooth Removals

Who Needs an Oral Surgeon When You’ve Got a General Dentist?

Dental SurveyIn our most recent survey, we asked dentists what percentage of wisdom tooth removals they refer to an oral surgeon. Overall, half of our dentist respondents refer out 80% or more third molar extractions. Some dentists were grateful to be rid of most or all wisdom teeth cases, while other dentists prefer to refer only the most complicated cases. “That’s what oral surgeons are for!” exclaimed a California dentist who refers out all removals. Said a Mississippi dentist, “I am grateful to have a source to refer things that are more difficult than I am comfortable doing.”

    Guys,
What kind of a mess was this page? You talk about dental orthodontics. What other kind of orthodontics do you know of? You talk about dental orthodontics and then reach the point where half of dentist refer most wisdom tooth removals. What’s that got to do with orthodontic referrals? Get somebody in charge to look over this stuff before you put it out.

    Sincerely,

    Robert H. Galloway
