Dental practice marketing campaignsDentists picked direct mail as their most effective avenue for dental practice marketing. Other favorites include yellow pages advertisements, TV ads, and dental websites.

“Sixty new patients per month with the new dental sign!” said one dentist.

“A mini dental implant ad can help many people with denture problems," offered another dentist. "Oh yeah, and my campaign brought in thousands in restorative revenue."

“My radio ad with dental website support led to over 200 calls in 4 days!" boasted an Illinois dentist.

Dollar for dollar, I still find the best ROI in dental marketing is achieved with SEO. So long as your dental website is designed for a high conversion ratio, you cannot beat online marketing for efficiency and returns.

That said, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. In accord with their budget, dentists will want a holistic marketing plan and one that includes reinforcing the basics such as a well-positioned website, street signage, practice interior and curb appeal, internal marketing, recalls, evening care calls and improving staff’s phone (sales) skills.

Some demographics benefit better than others from direct mailings, TV & radio ads, YellowPages (book) and community events. Experiment reasonably and network with colleagues in your area to find that sweet spot. You never know what you might find in a box of chocolates.

So much of the world is still hesitant to use online marketing as their primary source of gaining clients. This has constantly perplexed me. The internet is the perfect place to market especially with the advent of social media. Dentists will certainly see an increase of traffic from the internet in the next few years. Be sure to position yourself!

It’s really no surprise that direct mail is still the leading choice in dental marketing. It’s easy to customize your message, include coupons, and select a targeted list so you know exactly who your mail piece is reaching. Like the example in the video, you can also choose to exclude “difficult” patients or other demographics that are less preferable. Great post!
