Dental Health Depends on your Toothpaste (video)

Toothpaste affects your dental healthToothpastes aren't all the same, thinks the average dentist. Two of three dentists in this survey feel some toothpastes are better for dental health than others – and they're especially fond of fluoride toothpastes.

On the other hand, 35% felt that any modern toothpaste will clean your teeth perfectly well.

“New formulations clean better and have better anti-inflammatory effects,” said one orthodontist.

Toothpaste is a waste of time and money. Too often the ingredients contain harmful substances as well. The individual is better off, IMO, armed with good dental hygiene habits, a toothbrush and a lifetime supply of dental floss.

Fixodent, Poligrip denture creams, and others that contain zinc that over the long term can lead to neuropathy, other neurological problems. You need a little zinc in your diet, but too much can poison you. If you use Fixodent, and experience numbness, tingling, or weakness in your arms or legs, or balance or movement problems, your denture cream may be poisoning you.

Most people who use denture creams like Fixodent and Poligrip don’t know they contain zinc, let alone the health problems they can cause. Even swallowing small amounts of Fixodent over a long period of time may eventually make you sick.

This issue is only making news now. Lots of lawsuits have been filed. More info here.

Toothpaste is neither a food nor a drug and therefore it falls outside of FDA control; toothpaste is a cosmetic. Lack of critical thinking ability is to blame in those cases in which people ascribe therapeutic benefits to cosmetics.

Nice informative post. Your toothbrush may contain harmful bacteria. So its better to take care of toothbrush rather buying costly toothpaste.

@The Visible Dentist, what does “good dental hygiene habits” mean, if it doesn’t include brushing your teeth?!
