Here’s an $80,000 dental implant case for you!
The 28-year-old woman went to the dentist for a cracked tooth. Her dentist determined she needed three teeth removed, and she consented. But when she left the dental office, all 16 of her upper teeth had been removed – including 13 perfectly healthy teeth.
She filed a malpractice suit after the 2006 event, alleging that the three dentists involved in her treatment had falsified her dental; records to cover up their mistake. She was just awarded $2 million by a jury.
“Denture mills” are still popular in many lower-income groups, where for $500 you can get your teeth pulled and next-day dentures. Some clinics do that 50 or 100 times a day!
I’ll bet this was one of those practices, where some dumb associate just started pulling teeth one after the other. After all, the patient is numb, and she probably doesn’t know what’s going on!
