Dental Associates vs. Hygienists
Have you ever wondered when a hygienist can be more profitable to you than an associate?
Last week we discussed
profits and hygienists. This week, I'll examine how much an associate would
have to produce to yield the same profit. Sometimes it's easier to raise hygiene
production than to make that profit from an associate.

The Wealthy Dentist Survey Results: Wisdom Teeth
Half of Dentists Refer out Most Wisdom Tooth Removals
In our most recent survey, we asked dentists what percentage of wisdom tooth removals they
refer to an oral surgeon. Overall, half of our dentist respondents refer
out 80% or more third molar extractions. Some dentists were grateful to be rid of most or all wisdom teeth
cases, while other dentists prefer to refer only the most complicated cases.
"That's what oral surgeons are for!" exclaimed a California dentist who refers out all removals.
Said a Mississippi dentist, "I am grateful to have a source to refer things that
are more difficult than I am comfortable doing."
