The publicist's time honored adage that "no publicity is bad publicity" turns out to
be just as true for dentists as it is for rock stars
and celebutantes. Consider the example of "Dr. Charity," a dentist who got sued
for a minor complication while he was performing volunteer dental work on
indigent patients. He lost his court case, but the media coverage brought him
sympathetic new patients.

Survey: Dental Lasers
Three Out of Four Dentists Satisfied with Laser Purchases
In
this survey, three out of four dentists who have purchased a dental laser say
they have been satisfied with it. Of dentists who have a laser, half of them
report that they offer cosmetic skin services. "I would like to
purchase one for cosmetic/facial purposes, especially hair removal." said one
dentist, while another complained, "Not the cost benefit I thought I'd get. Very
high maintenance costs."

Dentist’s Suitcase Contains Bomb! (Or Else a Dental Exam Kit)
"Orange
alert" turned bright red at the Cincinnati airport recently. The hazmat team
and bomb squad
rushed to the airport. A ramp agent raised the alarm after spotting a suspicious-looking backpack
with wires sticking out of it. The bag was traced back to a dentist from
Ecuador. Talk about a false alarm! It turned out to be nothing more than a
portable dental examination kit.
